QR Code Scanner

Read a QR code from a screenshot, photo or your camera. See where it leads before you open it.

Your files never leave your device. Privacy

Someone sends you a screenshot with a QR code, but the camera you would scan it with is on the same phone. Or you want to see exactly where a code leads before trusting it. This scanner reads codes from images and from your camera, and always shows you the result first.

How to use the QR Code Scanner

  1. Add an image or use the camera

Drop a photo or screenshot that contains a QR code, paste it with Ctrl+V, or press Scan with camera.

  2. Read the result

The decoded link, text, Wi-Fi details or contact card appears right away.

  3. Copy or open

Copy the text, or check the link carefully and open it if you trust it.

Features

  • Scan from images

Works with screenshots, photos and saved images, even when the code is small or inverted.

  • Camera scanning

Use your webcam or phone camera, with nothing recorded or sent anywhere.

  • Preview before opening

Links are shown in full so you can spot fake or look-alike addresses.

  • Recognises the type

Tells you whether a code holds a link, Wi-Fi network, contact card, email, phone number or text.

  • One tap copy

Copy the decoded content to paste anywhere.

  • Fully private

Images and camera frames are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

When to use it

Codes in screenshots

Read a QR code someone sent you in a chat without needing a second phone.

Checking suspicious codes

See where a code on a poster, parcel or parking meter leads before visiting it.

Getting a Wi-Fi password

Read the network name and password stored in a Wi-Fi QR code.

Desktop work

Scan codes on your computer during online payments, logins or event check-ins.

How to spot a dangerous QR code

Look closely at the web address. Scam links often use a slightly misspelled brand name, an unusual ending, or a long string of random characters. Be wary of codes stuck on top of other codes, and of any page that asks for a password, card number or app download right away.

Why can the scanner not read my image?

The code may be blurry, too small, cut off at the edges, or partly covered. Try a sharper photo taken straight on, crop closer to the code, or use the camera option with good light.

Reading the different kinds of QR content

A link opens a web page. A Wi-Fi code contains WIFI: followed by the network name (S), security type (T) and password (P). A contact card begins with BEGIN:VCARD and lists a name, phone number and email. mailto:, tel: and SMSTO: codes start an email, a call or a text message.

Everything is shown as plain text first, so you can copy just the part you need, for example the Wi-Fi password, without your device acting on the code automatically.

Frequently asked questions
