Why we built a set of free tools

Most of the guides on The Zarq end with a small job you still have to do yourself. You free up space on your phone and then need to shrink a folder of photos. You fix a slow website and then need lighter images. Searching for a free tool usually leads to sites that upload your files to a server you know nothing about, cap you at a few files, or bury the download button under ads. We wanted something better for our readers, so we built it.

How "never leaves your device" works

Every tool here runs inside your web browser using built in features such as the Canvas API, Web Workers and the Web Crypto API. When you add a file, your browser reads and processes it on your own phone or computer. There is no upload step and no copy on our side. You can test it yourself: open a tool, switch off Wi-Fi or mobile data, and it still works.

How we keep the tools honest

Each tool page explains what the tool does, how to use it, and its limits. If a browser cannot do something, for example create WebP files, the tool says so clearly instead of failing silently. We test on Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on phones and desktops, and we fix problems readers report through our contact page. The tools are supported by a small number of clearly labelled ads that are kept away from the buttons you need to press.

Tools for every category

The collection covers images, PDFs, QR codes, text, SEO, developer utilities, calculators and social media, and we add new tools regularly based on what readers ask for. Each tool links to related guides on The Zarq, so you can learn the why behind the task as well as get it done. If there is a tool you wish existed, tell us through the contact page.
