Text Cleaner

Remove extra spaces, line breaks, duplicate lines, bullets and HTML tags. Sort lines too, with undo.

Text copied from PDFs, emails, websites and AI chat tools often comes with broken lines, double spaces, stray bullets and invisible characters. Tick what you want fixed and clean it all in one step.

How to use the Text Cleaner

  1. Paste the messy text

Copy text from a PDF, website, email or chat and paste it into the box.

  2. Choose what to clean

Tick options such as Remove empty lines or Remove duplicate lines, and pick a line order if you want sorting.

  3. Clean and copy

Press Clean text, check the result, then copy or download it. Undo brings the original back.

Your text is cleaned in your browser and never uploaded.

When to use it

Text from PDFs

Copying from a PDF often breaks every line. Join them back into paragraphs.

Lists and spreadsheets

Remove duplicates and sort email lists, keywords or product codes.

AI and web content

Strip formatting, odd quotes and hidden characters before pasting into your own documents.

Code and data

Remove HTML tags or invisible characters that cause hard to find errors.

What are invisible characters?

Some text contains characters you cannot see, such as zero width spaces and byte order marks. They come from websites, word processors and chat apps, and they can break passwords, formulas, code and search. The Remove invisible characters option deletes them safely.

In what order are options applied?

Options run from top to bottom in the list, then sorting happens last. That means spaces are trimmed before duplicates are checked, so lines that differ only by spacing are treated as the same.

A quick routine for messy pasted text

For text copied from a PDF, tick Trim spaces, Replace multiple spaces and Join everything into one paragraph, then add your own paragraph breaks back where they belong. For lists from spreadsheets or emails, tick Remove empty lines and Remove duplicate lines, then choose Sort lines A to Z.

Copying from AI chat tools and websites often brings curly quotes, long dashes and invisible characters along. Tick Straighten curly quotes and Remove invisible characters before pasting into code, forms or a CMS to avoid odd symbols appearing later.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove line breaks from text?

Paste your text, tick Join everything into one paragraph and press Clean text.

Tick Remove duplicate lines and press Clean text. The first copy of each line is kept.

Can I sort a list alphabetically?

Yes. Choose Sort lines A to Z in Line order and press Clean text.
