Meta Tag Generator
Generate SEO meta tags, Open Graph and X (Twitter) card tags ready to paste into your page head.

Learning SEO
See what each tag is for and how it is written.
What the main tags do
title and description appear in search results. robots tells search engines whether to index the page and follow its links. canonical names the main version of a page to avoid duplicate content. og: tags control previews on Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, and twitter: tags do the same on X.
Using WordPress?
If you use an SEO plugin such as Yoast or Rank Math, it already writes these tags. Fill in its fields rather than pasting code, or you may end up with duplicate tags.
Common meta tag mistakes
Using the same title and description on every page, which makes pages look identical in search. Leaving a noindex tag on a live site after launching it from a staging copy. Pointing the canonical tag at the wrong page, which can stop a page from appearing in Google at all.
For social sharing, using a relative image path like /images/photo.jpg instead of a full https address means Facebook and WhatsApp cannot find the picture. Always use absolute URLs in og:image and twitter:image. Finally, keep descriptions honest: a snippet that promises something the page does not deliver leads to quick returns to Google, which helps nobody.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I paste meta tags?
Inside the head section of your HTML page, before the closing head tag.
Do meta keywords still matter?
No. Google has ignored the meta keywords tag for many years, so this generator leaves it out.
What size should an Open Graph image be?
1200 by 630 pixels is the common recommendation. It displays well on Facebook, LinkedIn and X.
What does noindex do?
It asks search engines not to show the page in results. Use it for thank you pages, internal search results and thin pages.
Why does my link preview not update?
Social networks cache previews. Use the platform's debugging tool to refresh it after you change the tags.
Is this tool free?
Yes, with no limits and no sign up.
