When to use it

Fixing Caps Lock mistakes

Turn a paragraph typed in capitals back into normal sentences.

Headlines and titles

Give blog posts, YouTube videos and slides a consistent Title Case style.

Coding

Turn a phrase into a variable, function, file or constant name in the style your project uses.

Data clean up

Make names, product titles and spreadsheet columns consistent before importing them.

Sentence case or title case?

Sentence case capitalises only the first word and names, like a normal sentence. Many news sites and Google itself use it for headings because it is easier to read. Title Case capitalises the main words and is common in books, films and many blogs.

The programming cases explained

camelCase is common for JavaScript variables, PascalCase for class names, snake_case for Python and databases, kebab-case for URLs and CSS classes, and CONSTANT_CASE for constants and environment variables.

Which case to use where

For headings on a website, pick one style and use it everywhere; mixing Title Case and sentence case on the same site looks careless. Email subject lines read more naturally in sentence case. Product names and brands keep their own official capitalisation, whatever style you choose.

In code, follow the convention of the language or project you are working in rather than personal taste. Consistent naming makes code easier to search and review, which is why many teams enforce it automatically with linters. Our converter treats each line as a separate name, so you can convert a whole list of field names in one go.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change uppercase to lowercase?

Paste the text and press lower case. Use Sentence case instead if you want normal capital letters at the start of sentences.

What is title case?

A style where the main words of a title start with a capital letter, while short words like "a", "of" and "the" stay lower case unless they come first or last.

Can I undo a conversion?

Yes. Press Undo or Ctrl+Z to go back to the previous version, as many times as you need.

Does it keep line breaks?

Yes. Line breaks and paragraphs are kept for every writing style, and programming cases convert each line separately.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.

What is camelCase?

A style used in programming where words are joined without spaces and each word after the first starts with a capital, like userFirstName.
